Private sessions are also available all year round, generally on weekday evenings - contact the school to arrange a mutually acceptable time.
I also teach knitting classes at Michaels Beacon Hill (corner of Sarcee Trail and Stoney Trail) on Wednesdays. The following list shows the upcoming classes. Register in advance with the cashier at the store. Each class costs $25.
- Wednesday, Feb 1, 2012, 9:30-11:30 or 4-6: Discover the Knit Stitch. This is the first in the series of 4 beginner classes. If you know nothing about knitting, this class is for you. The photos show the projects that will be taught in each class - where there are two different photos, you have the choice of which project to make.
- Wednesday, Feb 8. 2012, 9:30-11:30 or 4-6: Discover the Purl Stitch. This is the second in the series. You will also learn how to knit with two colours. You should already know how to cast on, work the Knit stitch, and cast off.
- Wednesday, Feb 15, 2012, 9:30-11:30 or 4-6: Discover Pattern Stitches. This is the third in the series. In this class, you will learn about reading knitting patterns. You should already know how to cast on, cast off, knit and purl.
- Wednesday, Feb 22, 2012, 9:30-11:30 or 4-6: Discover Cables. This is the fourth and final in the series of 4 beginner classes. In this class, you will also learn more about reading knitting patterns. You should already know how to do cast on, cast off, knit and purl.
SPECIAL KNITTING CLASSES AT MICHAELS
These are classes to help you develop additional skills as a knitter.
- Sunday, March 4, 2010 1-3 pm: Discover Mitered Knitting, by knitting either a Patchwork Blanket or a Dishcloth. The nicest thing about Mitered Knitting is that there are NO SEAMS TO SEW!! In this class, you will also learn how to pick up stitches and more about reading knitting patterns. You should already know how to Cast On and how to do the Knit stitch.
- Date/Time To Be Determined: Discover Easy Shaping Techniques, by knitting a Baby Kimono. You will learn more about reading knitting patterns and how to make different shapes. You should already know how to do Cast On, the Knit Stitch, and Cast Off.
- Date/Time To Be Determined: Discover Fair Isle Colourwork, by knitting a Cowl. You will learn more about reading knitting patterns and how knit fancy patterns using two different colors of yarn. You should already know how to do Cast On, the Knit Stitch, the Purl Stitch, and Cast Off.
- Date/Time To Be Determined: Discover Garter Stitch, by knitting a Baby Blanket and Booties. You will learn more about reading knitting patterns, how to knit stripes, and how to make different shapes. You should already know how to do Cast On, the Knit Stitch, and Cast Off.
